Young man from La Laguna frees himself by singing

At only 16 years of age, a boy from La Laguna has let himself be carried away by the great music stars that emerged in the past, but continue to mark the present.

This is the high school student, Omar Romero, who is beginning to stand out for his performances, which is why he was invited to the program El Sonidero Lagunero, which aims to support local talent.

After performing songs like El Reloj, by maestro Roberto Cantoral, Omar told how his taste for music was born.

“Since I was a child I was always with my father on radio stations, from there music always moved me. He instilled in me a lot of The Beatles, José José or Luis Miguel,” he said and added with a laugh that, “I am an old soul, such Maybe I have always been an old man in other lives,” he said.

Romero announced that he was recently in a singing competition and did very well.

“It was an intercollegiate. I competed against 10 schools and came in third place. I saw a lot of classmates, some from my previous school.”

The Colegio América student commented that his parents greatly support his dream. “I think I’ve had enough of them. They help me with everything… rehearsals, transfers. In truth, I sing everywhere. I feel that singing frees me,” he said.

Enthusiastic, Omar mentioned that he always wants a way to stay on stage.

“Right now I am also preparing at a talent school. They have educated me a lot in my voice and presence.

“I have done works like Aladdin, Joseph the Dreamer and on June 30 we will premiere The Lion King. Seeing people’s faces when they acted or sang inspires me a lot,” he said.
