The ablation of organs was performed at the Trauma Hospital after confirming the death of the 34 -year -old patient, who suffered a severe head trauma, announced the Ministry of Health.
Organ donation is a generous and altruistic act, since it occurs in the midst of the pain of a family loss. However, the donation allows to improve the quality of life of patients who are on the waiting list for a long time.
On this occasion, an important operation of organs and tissues was carried out for transplantation purposes after confirming the death of a 34 -year -old, a procedure in charge of professionals from the health center and the National Institute of Ablation and Transplant (INAT).
The donor died because of a severe head trauma and, after the diagnosis, proceeded to ablation, which resulted in obtaining two kidneys and two corneas, being beneficiaries a 16 -year -old teenager, intervened in the Central Hospital of the IPS, and a 43 -year -old adult, transplanted in the Hospital of Clinics.
The corneas were also donated, captured by the Vision Foundation and sent to the tissue bank for subsequent implant.
This solidarity act today gives hope to new lives, so the Ministry of Public Health, through INAT, extends its condolences and thanks to the donor’s family.
On the donation law and where to register
In the country, according to the “Anita Law” 6170/18, every person over 18 is considered an organ donor after his death. If someone does not want to donate, they must express it in writing to INAT.
