On Thursday the police and the Rijkswaterstaat searched with boats on the Beneden-Merwede near Papendrecht for traces of the missing Yoran Krol (16 years old) from Sleeuwijk. The search began this morning but produced no new clues, Rijkswaterstaat reports to Omroep Brabant. Sona equipment was used during the search.
Yoran’s coat was found in the river near Papendrecht last Friday. It is unclear why the search was resumed on the site.
Missing
Yoran has not yet been found and has been missing since December 24. Yoran’s bicycle was found on Merwede Bridge a day after he went missing. Police found his coat in the River Merwede on Friday, thanks to a tip-off.
The search for the 16-year-old boy last Saturday became the largest civilian search ever carried out in the Netherlands. No fewer than 2,500 people joined the search. A number that far exceeded expectations.
The Missing Coordination Platform (CPV) organized the research. The search was conducted in a radius of approximately thirty kilometers around Sleeuwijk. Even then nothing was found. Forest rangers in small boats helped with searches in areas less accessible due to high water. The search will resume on Friday.
Yoran’s aunt also thanked everyone who helped during Saturday’s search:
