JAKARTA – Recently it went viral regarding the list of companies and Israeli affiliated products issued by the Foundation Indonesian Muslim Consumers (YKMI). This product list was issued by YKMI as a reference for the public to answer public confusion regarding affiliated products, as well as strengthening the MUI Irsyadat “Ramadan Without Genocide Products”.

“Based on internal analysis and studies, we have recorded and identified ten companies whose products are affiliated with Israel,” explained YKMI Executive Director, Ahmad Himawan in a discussion on Ramadan Without Genocide Products, in South Jakarta, last Friday (15/3).

Imawan explained that based on YKMI’s internal analysis and studies from various trusted sources, such as the official pages boycott.thewitness and bdnaash, there are 10 products that Indonesian Muslims must avoid, because they are affiliated with Israel.

“These ten products, namely Starbucks, Danone, Nestle, Zara, Kraft Heinz, Unilever, Coca Cola Group, McDonalds, Burger King and Israeli Dates must be avoided or must be boycotted starting this Ramadan 1445 Hijriah,” he said.

Himawan said the #RamadhanWithoutGenocideProduct movement is a commitment of Muslims to follow the Fatwa of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Number 83 of 2023 concerning the Law on Support for the Palestinian Struggle and the MUI Ersyadat to boycott Israeli-affiliated products.

Of the ten products, Himawan said there are still other affiliated products and their products are spread throughout Indonesia.

YKMI’s actions also received a response from the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI). Deputy Secretary General of the MUI, Arif Fahrudin, said that although the MUI does not have the authority to list affiliated products, the MUI allows institutions, including communities that focus on this matter, to conduct research to prove that the product is truly affiliated with Israel.

“So MUI hereby asks related stakeholders such as the government, related ministries and non-structural institutions to actively participate in providing literacy for the public by disclosing data and information on which products are affiliated and stating clear sources, which is not a problem,” explained Arif.
