Yeşilçam’s master actress Sevil Üstekin was sent off on her final journey

One of the actresses of Turkish Cinema and Yeşilçam, Sevil Üstekin, who is remembered with the characters she played in the films “Kapıcılar Kral” and “Şaban Oğlu Şaban”, lost her life in the hospital where she was receiving treatment due to diabetes. A funeral ceremony was held for the 79-year-old veteran actress Sevil Üstekin after the midday prayer at the Erenköy Galip Paşa Mosque in Kadıköy.

FAMOUS NAMES DID NOT LEAVE US ALONE

Artists Erol Evgin, Hasibe Eren, Açelya Akkoyun, Kandemir Konduk, as well as Üstekin’s family, relatives, close friends and actor friends attended the funeral ceremony. Following the funeral prayer, Sevil Üstekin’s body was buried in Edirnekapı Cemetery.

Artist Erol Evgin, who attended the funeral, said, “Sevil is a very old friend of mine. She used to come to our tours. She would join us from time to time. She was a very elegant lady. She was a good actress. Periods come, ages come, shall we say it is a cycle of nature. We had not seen each other for a long time. I did not know about her illness. May she rest in peace.”

WHO IS SEVİL Üstekın?

Sevil Üstekin, who graduated from Üsküdar American Girls High School, had studied for 3 years at a private theater school, LCC Language and Culture Center, under the presidency of Muhsin Ertuğrul. The master artist continued her stage career at Bizim Theater, Gazete Theater, Ali Poyrazoğlu Theater, Gülriz Sururi – Engin Cezzar Theater, Nisa Serezli – Tolga Aşkıner Theater, Dostlar Theater, Şan Theater and Dormen Theater.

The master artist was etched in our memories with films such as Kapıcılar Kralı and Şabanoğlu Şaban, in which he starred alongside Kemal Sunal. Üstekin, who has been in our lives with films since 1976, also starred in the films İyi Aile Çocuğu, Garip and Şalvar Davası.

The master name of Yeşilçam, Sevil Üstekin, was a guest in our homes for 10 years in the unforgettable television series called Mahallenin Muhtarları in 1992 as the character Müzevir Müzeyyen. Üstekin later took roles in the series Koçum Benim, Erkeksen Seyret and Memur Muzaffer. The master actress appeared on television screens in the series Yerden Yüksek, which started airing in 2010, as “Ülfet Nine”.
