The mayor of Yerba Buena, Pablo Macchiarolaled a meeting with Conicet scientists to coordinate future actions with the focus on combating the dengue endemic that caused havoc last summer.
“We met with scientists from Conicet who provided us with specific data so that we can take this information into account and act in a more specific and concrete way to optimize resources,” he said.
In this regard, he announced future actions and strategies to combat the emergence of infectious foci in the city: “We have analyzed the effectiveness or not of indoor fumigation, it is likely that we will implement an exclusive team with a dump truck to remove junk from spring, and also the probability of having health promoters who raise awareness in schools and colleges.”
The Secretary of Environment and Urban Services, was present at the table for the exchange of ideas and planning of actions. Pablo Quirogathe director of said area, Guadalupe Coriathe Director of Health, Flavia Mole, and the Doctor in Biological Sciences from Irmet/Conicet, Giselle Rodriguezadded to the biologist Mariana Bariccoresearcher at Conicet, among other references from the municipality and research center.
“We provide scientific tools that we could use to help in the coming seasons in case new epidemics occur,” Rodríguez concluded.
