Yen Bai Provincial People’s Committee recommends that people need to be on guard against the risk of flash floods and landslides in areas in the province, especially in districts such as Mu Cang Chai, Tram Tau, Van Chan, Van Yen, Tran Yen, Luc Yen, Yen Binh, Nghia Lo Town, Yen Bai City.
Also in the afternoon and evening of September 8, flooding occurred in low-lying areas of localities such as Van Chan, Nghia Lo town, Luc Yen, Van Yen, Tran Yen, Yen Binh, and Yen Bai city.
On September 8, the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue of Yen Bai province said that as of 11:00 a.m. the same day, storms had killed one person.
The victim was Sung Thi T. (10 years old, in Suoi Giang commune, Van Chan district), who died after a wooden house collapsed on her.
In addition, the storm also damaged 439 houses, and 269 houses had to evacuate people and property to ensure safety.
Heavy rain damaged and affected more than 610 hectares of crops, killing over 160 poultry and livestock.
The storm also caused landslides on many traffic routes.
