World Health Day: Johanniter has been committed to health for 50 years – 2024-04-05 12:30:49

President Bucher: Health is a fundamental human right – Johanniter offers help and support where it is needed most.

Vienna (OTS) On the occasion of World Health Day on April 7th, which this year has the motto “My health, my right – right to health”, Johannes Bucher, President of Johanniter Austria, points out that “World Health Day is an important opportunity to raise awareness to raise awareness of the importance of health for the well-being of every individual. As Johanniter, we are proud that we have been working tirelessly for the health of the people we care for in Austria for 50 years and are at their side in emergencies.” World Health Day reminds us that health is a fundamental human right that every individual has is entitled.

With a wide range of social and health services, Johanniter is available around the clock to provide help and support where it is needed most. As a non-profit organization, the Johanniter is active in many social and health areas. “From deployment in the rescue and driving services to nursing, emergency nursing services or palliative care through to senior care – in all our fields of activity we are always at the service of people. Our primary goal is to maintain and promote the health and well-being of the people we care for,” says Bucher.

The health of the homeless men, women and families with children being looked after plays a central role, particularly in homeless assistance. In this area – due to the generally aging population – the amount of care and health care required by carers has increased enormously. The Johanniter offers 480 care places for homeless people in four facilities in Vienna over the winter. “But even in the warmer months, people without shelter need accommodation, meals and hygiene options – because homelessness knows no season,” emphasizes Bucher. For this reason, a homeless facility run by Johanniter in Vienna will once again be kept open over the summer this year – funded by the Vienna Social Fund (FSW).
