The leaders of the Kazakhstan Chess Federation (KCF) and the world junior chess champion, Kazakhstani Kazybek Nogerbek, held a press conference, Liter.kz reports.
It was noted that given the new big victory, Kazybek deserves to upgrade the support package to gold, which includes much broader technical and financial support, including classes with a trainer.
“In the very near future, expansion of support for the champion will be realized,” said the first vice-president of the KFS Darmen Sadvakasov
Gulmira Dauletova, executive director of the KFS, making a statement, called the champion “Kazybek of the 21st century,” comparing him with the great Kazakh orator, public figure who united the Kazakhs.
Honored coach of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erzhan Shakenov shared his more than 10 years of experience working with Kazybek, noting that the strongest qualities of his ward are a sincere love for chess and a constant desire for excellence.
When asked about his style, Kazybek said that he loves to play correct chess and has a special love for “knight versus bishop” endgames.
After I saw Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich’s congratulations, I was very happy. I’m a little worried now. This is a very high result, I still can’t believe it. This is a victory for the entire people of Kazakhstan,” said Kazybek.
Recalling the game with Mamikon Gharibyan, which brought him victory in the World Championship, Kazybek noted that he had already met with the Armenian grandmaster earlier, and then the result was approximately the same position with a draw result. Apparently, this was what the tournament leader, who played black, was counting on. But Kazybek, who was relegated to 4th place by a draw, managed to outplay his opponent thanks to passed pawns supported by an active knight.
Having won the gold medal, Kazybek Nogerbek received a ticket to the World Cup, which is part of the selection for the candidates tournament for the title of world champion. The chess player’s next goal is to play in this Cup using the knockout system.
This is one of the goals. I’ll probably still try to make my rating about 2600 and higher. I would like to play in the Candidates Tournament and become the first Kazakhstani who can reach the 2700 mark,” said Kazybek Nogerbek.
Thanking his first coach Zhansagimov Almas and current coach Erzhan Shakenov, Kazybek additionally noted those coaches whose training helped him win in India – grandmasters Vladislav Tkachev, Alexander Onischuk and Anton Korobov.
Let us note that only three of our chess players achieved such high success – Darmen Sadvakasov (1998), Dinara Saduakasova (2016) and Zhansaya Abdumalik (2017). Note that the silver medalist of the 2022 U18 World Championship entered the fight, formally considered an international master. However, already during the tournament, it became known that at the next meeting of the FIDE Presidential Council he was confirmed with the rank of grandmaster.
The girls’ champion was the host of the competition, Divya Deshmukh (2456), who scored 10 points. Half a point behind, the second place was taken by the 2022 U18 World Champion Mariam Mkrtchyan (2300) from Armenia. 8½ and third place went to mm from Azerbaijan Ayan Allahverdieva (2133).
