News from Angola – The senior women’s national football team beat Mauritius this Tuesday, 3-0, in the last round of the group stage of the COSAFA Cup, played at the Madibaz Stadium (South Africa).
The advantage favoring the Angolan team, over the similar team from the Indian Ocean (Group A), does not qualify for the final of the competition.
According to Angop, the national team depended on a defeat by Mozambique, who drew 1-1 against the hosts (1-1).
Angola’s goals were scored by Luvunga (1-0), in the 10th minute, Teresa João (2-0), in the 72nd minute, and again Luvunga (3-0), in the 81st minute.
The competition is being contested by three groups (A, B and C), the first two of each will pass.
In the Angola series, South Africa came in first place, with seven (7) points, followed by Mozambique, with five (5).
The Angolans finished with 4 points, with Mauritius being last, without any points.
In the 2012 edition, in South Africa, Angola did not pass the group stage.
The semi-finals will be played on Friday (9th) and the final takes place on Sunday (11th).
Tanzania holds the trophy, held in 2021, in South Africa.
