New Delhi: The number of board seats held by women across Indian business has gradually increased over the last five years and they will hold 18.3 per cent board seats in 2023, a Deloitte report said on Friday. However, the “Women in the Boardroom: A Global Perspective” report says this is lower than the global average of 23.3 percent. The Deloitte Global Boardroom Program report analyzed more than 18,000 companies from 50 countries to explore women’s representation in the boardroom. It includes analysis of 400 companies of India. The tribunal rejected a British Indian’s claim that he was racially targeted at Deloitte. The report sees a gradual increase in the number of women’s board seats across India Inc, with women holding 18.3 percent of board seats in 2023, up from 13.8 percent. The report released on International Women’s Day said that percent in 2018 and 17.1 percent in 2021. India’s numbers are lower than the global average of 23.3 per cent, which sees a growth of 3.6 per cent from 2022 onwards, reducing the timeline for achieving parity by seven years – from 2045 to 2038.
