Women’s ODI World Cup prize money more than men’s

The prize money of the Women’s ODI World Cup has surpassed the men’s edition.

According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the total prize money for the women’s tournament has now reached $13.88 million, up from $3.5 million in 2022.

The new prize money surpasses the previous men’s World Cup of $10 million.

The 13th edition of the 50-over women’s World Cup will begin from September 30 in India and Sri Lanka.

ICC Chairman Jay Shah said, ‘This announcement is a decisive milestone in the journey of women’s cricket.

“The quadrupling of prize money is a historic moment that reflects our clear commitment to the long-term growth of women’s cricket.”

Former BCCI chief Shah added, “Our message is simple, women cricketers should know that if they take up the game professionally, they will be given the same facilities and respect as men.”
