Women’s carriages are gaining popularity in Kazakhstan

Passenger transportation in women’s carriages has doubled, Liter.kz reports with reference to the press service of Passenger Transportation JSC.

Almost 70 thousand women have used the service of traveling in women’s carriages since the beginning of the year. This is double the figure for last year – in 2023, more than 34 thousand women used this service.

In total, since the beginning of the project in 2021, more than 359 thousand women have chosen to travel in women’s carriages for a more comfortable and safe trip.

Today, women’s carriages run on eight passenger trains:

• No. 77/78 “Almaty – Mangistau” compartment car No. 07;
• No. 351/352 “Almaty – Oskemen” compartment car No. 10.
• No. 45/46 “Pavlodar – Turkestan” compartment car No. 09;
• No. 37/38 “Mangistau – Semey” compartment car No. 06;
• No. 47/48 “Atyrau – Astana” compartment car No. 06;
• No. 33/34 “Aktobe – Almaty-1” compartment car No. 06;
• No. 4/3 “Astana – Almaty-2” compartment car No. 17;
• No. 71/72 “Astana – Shymkent” compartment car No. 10.

The company reminded that tickets for women’s carriages are sold only to women, and only conductors work in them. But you can bring boys under seven years old with you.

As reported in “Passenger Transportation”, a social survey is currently being conducted on the further development of the “Women’s Car” project. The survey results will help to better understand the needs and preferences of passengers and determine the project development strategy taking into account the current needs of society.
