Once again the Vallenata Legend Festival was adorned with female talent. The bellows of the accordion players opened between the smiles of the women and the whistles sounded to the rhythm of the delicacy of those who today are giving a musical lecture with the accordion.
Seven women are competing for the crown of Major Accordion Player, at the 56 Vallenata Legend Festival, in tribute to Luis Enrique Martínez, which takes place in the capital of Cesar until next Sunday, April 30.
Jenifer Mercedes Aragón García, Sara Marcela Arango Pérez Madelaine Bolaño Escobar, Wendy Paola Corzo Carmona, Alexandra Maciel Gómez de la Ossa, María José Hernández Pedroza and Yulieth Dayana Pineda Rovira, performed yesterday at Los Algarrobillos Park in the first round performing the Paseo airs and Merengue; Today you show your skills in Son and Puya. One of the contestants, Jenifer Mercedes Aragón García, from La Guajira, claimed to have arrived at the competition stronger and more mature. “In some way each process involves sacrifice, at this time we are working with more maturity, after a reorganization of ideas that will allow us to achieve a better intervention. I worked very hard to execute each of the airs with cadence. The goal is to reach the final and take that crown,” she said.
From Cúcuta, Norte de Santander, Yuliet Dayana Pineda came to participate, who claims to be at her best when it comes to playing the accordion. “I have participated four times and it has gone very well, the people like how I play and that is the essence of this genre. “Women are giving soup and dry to men with the accordion, there is a lot of material on women’s issues and we are leaving Vallenato folklore high.”
Yuliet Dayana has reached the semifinals and aspires to take the crown to her homeland this year. She is an amateur Queen in La Guajira, Evafe, among other contests.
Sara Marcela Arango Pérez, from La Apartada-Córdoba, said she had achieved stronger and more precise competition in the notes. “I am giving my all, I hope God’s will is fulfilled; I have improved the vallenata note, the pulsation and the cadence, that is why I will achieve the best results.”

He claims to have worked hand in hand with the teacher ‘El Chino’ Zuleta, under the advice of the López Dynasty. “This competition is tough and the power of women is evident in these competitions,” said the young woman.
The Mayor Vicereina 2022, Wendy Paola Corzo Carmona, showed the best of her abilities, ensuring that she was committed to reaching first place, since last year she took second place. “We come with a lot of faith and preparation, listening to great teachers from whom she took the best advice and techniques. For this version I managed to see the King of Kings, Almes Granados, who corrected me some things and guided me to achieve success in each presentation,” she said.
