Algeria – Yesterday, Sunday, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune supervised the official inauguration of the Algiers Mosque “in its entirety and with all its facilities” in the municipality of Mohammedia, and religious and Islamic figures from several countries participated in the inauguration.
Upon his arrival, Tebboune was received by the Dean of the Mosque of Algiers, Sheikh Mohammed Al-Mamoun Al-Qassimi Al-Hassani, the Minister of Religious Affairs, Youssef Belmehdi, in addition to the Minister of Housing, Tarek Belaribi.
Religious and Islamic figures from several countries participated in the inauguration of this edifice, which is the largest mosque in Africa and the third in the world after the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque.
In the honorary hall of the mosque, the Algerian president watched a documentary tape about the various facilities and structures of this cultural and religious edifice, according to what Al-Shorouk newspaper reported.
After supervising the inauguration, the President inspected the Museum of Islamic Civilization, located on the 23rd floor of the Minaret of the religious edifice.
On this occasion, Tebboune stopped at the various wings of the religious edifice, which narrates important stages of the Islamic history of Algeria and includes books, correspondence and personal belongings of scholars and notables from Algeria in various historical stages. It also includes copies of the Holy Qur’an prepared by Algerian scholars, along with manuscripts in various Islamic religious sciences.
The religious, scientific and tourism edifice extends over an area of 30 hectares, of which 400,000 square meters have been allocated to contain 12 continuous and integrated buildings.
This huge building, located in the municipality of Mohammedia in the heart of Algeria, includes a large prayer hall that covers an area of 20,000 square meters and can accommodate more than 120,000 worshippers.

The minaret consists of 43 floors, 15 of which were allocated as space to host a museum related to the history of Algeria, and 10 floors as a research center in addition to commercial stores. A telescope was also placed at the top so that visitors to the site could enjoy it. As beautiful as the capital’s bay.
The Algiers Mosque also houses a House of the Qur’an with a capacity of 1,500 seats, intended for Algerian and foreign students.
The mosque includes other buildings such as a cultural center containing an exhibition hall and a library that holds 1 million books.
