247 – The conclusion of the Federal Police (PF) investigation against Jair Bolsonaro (PL), based on accusations made by former aide-de-camp Mauro Cid, is expected to take place in 2024, company sources told CNN Brasil. The most advanced phase to date concerns fraud on the vaccination card and on Bolsonaro’s friends and family. The investigation would have obtained documents proving the insertion and deletion of data in the Ministry of Health system, clarifying how these manipulations were known to Bolsonaro.
The hypothesis of Bolsonaro’s arrest is normally handled by the agents involved in the investigations. A PF source stressed that if the team identifies involvement in crimes, arrests will be made according to legal criteria, without privileges or impunity. “If the investigation team identifies that Jair, José, Maria, João are involved in crimes, they will be arrested. Anyone who is investigated, if they have evidence and meet the prison criteria, will be arrested, they could be Jair, João, Maria.”
Despite the media attention on the case, Mauro Cid’s statement has not yet been released in full, which was used by Bolsonaro’s defense as a pretext to discredit the information already released. The information kept confidential, however, would have had notable effects, according to the investigators.
The collaboration of Cid, considered Bolsonaro’s right-hand man, covers several aspects, including the coup attempt that took place on January 8, the misappropriation of jewels received as a gift from Saudi Arabia and card fraud of vaccination. The PF likens the accusation to a valuable script that helped obtain further evidence in the case. “The PF will not persecute or protect anyone. I do not want to reverse the mistakes of the criminal system committed with Lula and commit them with Bolsonaro”, underlined a PF source.
