Wishes always against a political backdrop

Marc Ravalomanana misses no opportunity to ensure his presence.

In a context where truces seem to be reserved for political demonstrations, opposition leaders have chosen to celebrate the Feast of the Nativity by combining human warmth and political commitment. Many have skillfully navigated between celebrating Christmas and preserving their political project. Then, they work to ensure visibility during the holidays. Hajo Andrianainarivelo, one of the leading figures of the opposition, deliberately shared an image of complicity with a child in his family, thus highlighting the association of Christmas with childish innocence. This thoughtful staging also served to remind us that, despite his political role, the president of the Malagasy Miara-Miainga party remains anchored in the daily reality of citizens. His skillful use of social media has boosted his media presence in recent times. For his part, Marc Ravalomanana opted for a more traditional celebration by attending worship in his native village of Imerikiasinina. Capturing the festive spirit, he shared a photo taken among children, still sporting his distinctive red tie to maintain constant political visibility. Auguste Paraina, adopting a different approach, chose to convey his Christmas wishes through a video broadcast on social networks. In this video, he not only expressed his festive wishes, but also announced the active participation of his party, Tsara Tahafina, in the upcoming legislative, municipal and regional elections. Auguste Paraina raised the idea of a “ organisation » between the opponents, that is to say a “ coalition or platform ”, with a view to these upcoming consultations.
