Pimem-Comerç expects a successful sales campaign thanks to the expected aggressive pricing strategy and the sudden change in the weather in Mallorca, where it has gone from mild temperatures to the winter cold expected at least next week.
This last factor, according to the president of Pimem-Comerç, Miquel Àngel Mateu, “is fundamental” because “the sensation of cold helps the purchase of garments which until now were very difficult to sell simply due to the high temperatures for the time of year I did not invite you to purchase them as they simply would not be used.
“Positive” sales are also expected from the Corte Inglés, thanks to the arrival of the cold, which “will encourage shopping in these weeks”, in which they want to “maintain the good Christmas trend”.
El Corte Inglés by Jaime III started its winter sales this Sunday because it is located in an area with a high tourist density. Sales in the Balearic Islands in centers that are not located in the ZGAT, such as El Corte Inglés de Avenidas, will begin this Monday.
The most skeptical with the official start of the winter sales was the president of Afedeco, Antoni Gayà, who recalled that traders have long complained that “there are more sales days than normal sales days” and “this has not no sense.”
For Gayà the problem “is that there are so many days of offers that the sales have lost their origin, which is good because after Three Kings there were days of discounts and, let’s remember, this made people do queuing to enter the shops”. ” , he recalled, lamenting that “now not only is no one queuing, because they have already been able to buy during Black Friday, but well, it’s just another day.” “Therefore in the first days people will be able to buy more, but as time goes by, sales will drop significantly,” he warned.
