The Malagasy delegation can enjoy another prestigious performance at the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games. Committed to alpine skiing, Mialitiana Clerc, better known as Mia Clerc, delivered a solid performance in giant slalom, climbing to 50th place in the general ranking. Starting with bib 76, the young skier showed remarkable consistency. Over the two runs, she limited the gap to just nine seconds on each run, for a cumulative time of 2:31.99. A performance which confirms its constant progression at the highest international level. Never before has Mia Clerc displayed such ease, remaining under the symbolic bar of ten seconds on each of the rounds. As a reminder, Mathieu Gravier, his compatriot also engaged in giant slalom, posted an encouraging performance by placing in the Top 60 on Saturday. Starting with a distant provisional ranking at the start, he was able to gain places to finish 57ᵉ. If the mission is now accomplished in the men’s competitions, the women’s representative of the Big Island, Mia Clerc, has not said her last word. All eyes are now on the women’s slalom, scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday. A new opportunity for the Malagasy expatriate to continue to write the history of Malagasy skiing on the Olympic stage.
