It was shortly after a quarter to ten when the jet with Barbora Krejčíková (28) on board landed at the Brno airport in Tuřany after 104 minutes of flight.
From the window, the two-time Grand Slam winner could calmly look at her native Ivančice, after all, the plane was flying about 10 kilometers from them. Where Krejčíková started her career, she returned with the most valuable »plate« in the tennis world. How symbolic…
Only a few people knew about her arrival in the Czech Republic. Maybe because he doesn’t have a media manager on his team. Only a few media representatives were present. No big »show«, but a cozy atmosphere. Krejčíková was glad for that and looked at the bed. “I’m mainly looking forward to going to bed. I didn’t sleep much,” she smiled and winked at the mention of the celebrations: “I’ll be celebrating for a while, I had a great time in London and now I’m looking forward to enjoying it here.”
And what were her immediate feelings about the last few days after returning from across the Channel? “It’s really hard to believe that it happened. I’m slowly absorbing it. It is a tremendous success.” said an excited but tired Bára. “It’s incredible that I was able to meet so many people and that sport connected us nicely. I also liked the dance with Carlos Alcaraz. It was very pleasant,” she recalled the traditional dinner of champions.
“I believe that I will rest and I am very much looking forward to the Olympics,” Krejčíková described another plan. In Paris, she will perform in doubles together with Kateřina Siniaková, with whom she will compete at the Prague Open at the Aráel in Stromovce before the Olympics.
