New Zealand’s two star cricketers Kane Williamson and Tim Southee are waiting to touch a great milestone ahead of the Test series against Australia.
Williamson and Southee will score a different century in Test cricket only if they can play in the two-match series against the Aussies. They have played 98 matches for New Zealand so far. If they play the next two matches, they will play the 100th match of their career.
Meanwhile, New Zealand has announced a 14-member Test squad against the Aussies. Williamson and Southee are in the squad. Southee will play as captain.
Only 4 cricketers have played 100 matches in the history of New Zealand Test cricket so far. They are – Stephen Fleming, Daniel Vettori, Brendon McCullum and Ross Taylor.
New Zealand coach Gary Steed spoke about Williamson and Southee’s great milestone. He said, ‘Playing 100 Tests for the country is an incredible achievement. It takes long time and skill. One has to understand the demands of Test cricket for a long time. We have to prove ourselves through this.’
Steed added, ‘Tim (Southee) and Kane (Williamson) are two great servants of New Zealand cricket. Black Caps are known to be the domineering personalities in the environment. Their achievements in Tests speak for themselves. They are undoubtedly two of the best players to ever play in a New Zealand jersey.’
