Roman Ďurčo stated in the Epicenter that the whole situation, the whole story surrounding the former trade union chairman Josef Středula resonates with unions. According to him, however, no one wanted to take revenge on a colleague, to organize a hunt for him.According to him, the whole story is very unfortunate and Středula himself is to blame for it, while already in September he personally warned him about the whole thing – i.e. the debts for non-payment of contributions.
“The grassroots organization did not fail in any way. The statutes are strict and it must be said that the period of non-payment of membership fees was very long, and in September there was a meeting between me and my colleague Středula, when we dealt with some administrative matters regarding our common former employer, and there it was clearly decided that there was a need to make a phone call Member Posts,” said Ďurčo.
Ďurčo: Středula lost his trust in me
According to Ďurč, the whole situation casts bad shadows both on OS KOVO and on ČMKOS. But the question remains whether the former chairman did not act illegally in his position for three months. The decision that he was ending was finally made on March 4, but Josef Středul’s membership in the OS had already expired on November 24.
“Lasting three months, it shouldn’t have been a few days. Colleague Středula simply somehow lost his trust in me, I tried to calm the whole situation down, however, when the lawyers within the ČMKOS somehow delved into it, they pointed out these problems at the extraordinary council that was held on March 4. “ Roman Ďurčo commented on the whole situation.
Even so, Středula received a nomination from his hometown KOVO so that he could defend his current presidential mandate on Monday. But it is not certain whether he will win. “The trade union KOVO gave him a nomination, however, there was a clear agreement that our delegates would not be bound by this,” KOVO boss Roman Ďurčo said at Epicenter on Wednesday. For example, Středula cannot count on his voice. “My support is really freezing at the moment” added Ďurčo.
There was no time for another candidate
An extraordinary assembly of the ČMKOS will be held already on Monday, where 115 delegates from 31 trade unions should vote on a new president. The only nominee at the moment is Josef Středula.
“The trade union KOVO gave him a nomination, however, an agreement was clearly reached that our delegates would not be bound by this. My support is really at freezing point at the moment. I think that even the time when the extraordinary assembly will be held, three weeks, because the complaints from the other unions were there that they did not have enough time to present their candidate, for example, so that both unions would have a chance, that is justified. However, we have a Diet here on Monday, I think that the proposals will definitely pass,” added Ďurčo, adding that it is up to the stars whether a new chairman will be elected at all.
“I don’t have a crystal ball. It’s scheduled for that election to happen, if it happens, I really think it’s open. I feel that even within the confederation the opinions are really different. I really can’t predict whether the chairman and vice-chairman will be elected,” concluded Ďurčo.
