Wild hotel stabbing fight

A bloody fight that took place in Platanias, Chania, between three foreigners working in the area, is being investigated by the police authorities.

In particular, a man from Sweden, 35 years old, managed to stab a fellow countryman, 48 years old, who he wounded in the chest and abdomen, as well as a Finnish man, 42 years old, who caused skin wounds.

Permanent residents

All three are permanent residents of Chania who work for a Scandinavian company that has offices in Chania.

According to the police, they had consumed a quantity of alcohol and for an unknown reason, they had an argument in the early hours of the morning as a result of which the perpetrator attacked with a knife.

All of them were taken to the Chania hospital.

The police confiscated a knife and 44 drug tablets from the perpetrator.

The 48-year-old is in critical condition

According to local media, the 48-year-old Swede is fighting to stay alive.

He was taken to the hospital having suffered a ruptured spleen and diaphragm from the stabbings inflicted by the 35-year-old Swede. In fact, he was admitted to the operating theater where, after a long operation, he is hospitalized in the Intensive Care Unit.

The doctors report that his health condition is particularly serious and the next 24 hours are critical.

The 42-year-old Finn, who was also stabbed by the 35-year-old Swede, reportedly has minor injuries.

According to information, the 42-year-old has a knife wound on his hand and is being treated at the orthopedic clinic of the Chania hospital without his life being in danger.

How the episode happened

Everything happened at 1.30 after midnight in a hotel in Platanias, Chania.

According to neakriti.gr, hotel tenants who were watching from a room on the first floor saw the 35-year-old harassing a girl on the street. According to them, when the 48-year-old and 42-year-old tried to stop him, he allegedly went up to his room, got a kitchen knife and started attacking them both in a rage.

A little later, men from the Platanias Police Department proceeded to arrest the 35-year-old, while the victims were transported by EKAV ambulance to the Chania hospital. The Swede suffered wounds to the chest, while from the stab wounds he suffered a ruptured spleen and diaphragm and underwent a long-term surgery, with his condition being described as critical. He is being treated in the surgical clinic. The 42-year-old Finn, who also underwent surgery, is out of danger but with a deep bruise on his forearm and is being treated at the orthopedic clinic.

A case file was filed against the perpetrator for violations of the law on weapons and for causing dangerous bodily harm and was referred to the public prosecutor while the preliminary investigation by the Platanias Police Department continues. According to information, the perpetrator as well as the victims work for a well-known Scandinavian company, whose employees have many times engaged the police authorities of Chania for criminal acts, even for felonies.
