Until now, the UN can only discuss the atrocities committed by Israel against Palestinians but cannot do anything to stop the genocide by the Zionist regime.
Here are some factors that explain why the UN has not been able to stop genocide in the region:
1. Limitations of UN Power
The UN has an important role in maintaining world peace and security. However, the UN’s decisions and actions depend on its members, especially the Security Council which has five permanent members with veto rights, namely the United States, Russia, China, France and the United Kingdom.
When there is a resolution condemning Israel’s actions or stopping genocide, countries with veto power can block it. This resulted in the UN’s inability to take firm action regarding the genocide committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip.
2. Support from several Western countries for Israel
Despite evidence and statements from experts calling Israel’s actions a genocide, several Western countries still provide blind support to Israel.
This support could influence the UN’s stance and hinder efforts to stop the genocide that has killed more than 36,000 Palestinians in Gaza.
3. Conflict Complexity
The Israeli-Palestinian conflict has a long and complex history. Ethnic, religious, and political factors complicate the situation.
The UN has to consider many aspects before taking action, and this often slows down their response.
4. Limitations of Military Intervention
The UN does not have the military power of its own to stop the conflict. They depend on member states to provide peacekeepers.
