Whoosh Fast Train Passengers Soar 30% on Eid Day

JAKARTA – PT Kereta Cepat Indonesia China (KCIC) noted a spike in Whoosh Fast Train passengers on Eid day, especially departures from Halim Station to Padalarang and Tegalluar Stations. KCIC anticipates this increase in passenger numbers by adding 12 trips per day until April 18 2024.

The increase has been visible since Wednesday (10/4/2024) afternoon and Thursday (11/4/2024). Based on monitoring, at the favorite time and route, namely Halim’s departure on Thursday, departures starting at 07.55, 08.20, until 12.00 are always crowded with passengers. Occupancy at these favorite hours reaches 80% to 95%.

“Sales on April 12 have also shown a significant increase, where favorite watches have shown a figure of 85%,” explained PT KCIC Corporate Secretary Eva Chairunisa in her official statement, Friday (12/4/2024).

On Eid day, KCIC departed 26,000 passengers. This number has increased by around 30% compared to the normal period before Eid transportation. The passenger volume will still increase because sales are currently still taking place online and offline.

Overcrowding can still be seen at the ticket counters and ticket machines for reservations and go show purchases. However, with 52 trips per day, passengers have many Whoosh travel alternatives to choose from according to their needs. The distance between schedules or Whoosh headways during peak hours reaches 25 to 30 minutes, giving passengers high flexibility.

Regarding this increase, KCIC urges passengers to comply with the provisions regarding their luggage so that the comfort of all passengers can be maintained. Each passenger can only carry 3 pieces of luggage with maximum dimensions of 100 cm x 30 cm x 40 cm with a maximum total weight of 20 kg. The 3 items can be 2 suitcases or boxes and 1 backpack over a handbag.

“Passengers are also prohibited from carrying animals, narcotics, firearms and sharp weapons, flammable items, strong-smelling items, and items that are not permitted by officers and statutory regulations,” he added.

Passengers are also expected to schedule their travel time to Whoosh Station so they arrive at least 30 minutes before the scheduled departure. It is feared that passengers will miss Whoosh because the boarding gate will be closed 5 minutes before the train departs for safety reasons.
