The federal deputy of the PVEM, Juan Pablo Montes de Oca Avendaño, who died today in a plane accident that occurred in the Salto de Agua municipality, in Chiapas, was a civil engineer from the Autonomous University of Chiapas.
He served as construction supervisor for the company Coyatoc Construcciones and manager of Constructora de Alta Calidad en Comunicación, from 2000 to 2009.
He began his political career in 2011, when he was municipal president of Venustiano CarranzaChiapas, until 2012. That same year he was appointed Undersecretary of Infrastructure, Highways and Hydraulics of the Infrastructure Secretariat of the Government of Chiapas, until 2016, during the administration of former governor Manuel Velasco Coello.
From 2018 to 2021 he was a local deputy in the LXVII Legislature of the Congress of Chiapas and from 2021 to date He was a federal representative for the PVEM, for District 10 (Villaflores) of Chiapas. He requested leave on December 6, 2023, but was reinstated on January 5, 2024.
In San Lázaro he was secretary of the Urban Development and Territorial Planning commissions, and of the Infrastructure commission and a member of the Hydraulic Resources, Drinking Water and Sanitation commissions, and the Bicamaral of Concord and Pacification of the Congress of the Union.
He was currently political operation coordinator for licensed senator Eduardo Ramírez Aguilar, who is Morena’s sole candidate for governor of Chiapas.
How the accident happened?
Montes de Oca and at least six other people died after the small plane they were traveling in crashed. Among the victims is also a former mayor of Venustiano Carranza, where Montes de Oca was originally from and where he was also municipal president.
Authorities reported that the plane fell near the Lote Ocho community (La Gloria), from the municipality of Salto de Agua, around 3:01 p.m. this Thursday and the first to arrive in the area were Tzeltal indigenous people who asked for support from the authorities of the region.
The plane had left Tuxtla before 2:00 p.m., towards Palenque, where Montes de Oca and his friends had been invited to spend Holy Week.
