Heart failure is a complex syndrome in which the heart is unable to provide the blood circulation necessary to meet the normal needs of the body. Dysfunction can be caused by various cardiovascular diseases, the most common causes are coronary heart disease, high blood pressure, valvular disease alone or in combination.
Publika.az Cardiovascular surgeon Ramil Aliyev said these words. The doctor said that when the inability of the heart to pump blood, when the blood circulation becomes chronic, the body activates neurohormonal compensation mechanisms that can cause the heart function to worsen.
“As age increases, the number of cases of heart failure also increases. Chronic heart failure is observed in 10% of people over 60 years old. It is 50% in people over 70 years old. Heart failure is caused by a violation of myocardial contractility ( systolic HF; heart failure with a decreasing ejection fraction) or hardening of the heart walls (diastolic HF; heart failure with a constant ejection fraction) or, in most cases, both of these can be caused at the same time,” said the doctor.
