Neither 200 years of imperial dependence nor 70 years of Soviet slavery could shake the idea of national independence and the determination to fight for independence in the hearts, minds and actions of the Azerbaijani people, especially the intellectuals. Thousands of lives were sacrificed in order to get rid of slavery and never again fall under the influence of the power center. But today, as in the Soviet era, we encounter pseudo-intellectuals who are desperate to turn the nation into a slave of foreigners, and to turn our independent state into the fifth wheel of hegemonic political constructions that are foreign to our nation-state traditions and contrary to our national interests.
Recently, I read a comment by Jamil Hasanli, who declared himself a “professor” of almost all universities in the world. In fact, I always try to avoid wasting time on the writing of such fake professors. But the article drew my attention because the comment referred to the 13th Plenary session of TURKPA, in which I was also a participant. I read it and was very disappointed.
On June 6, Jamil Hasanli expressed his attitude towards the European policy of President Ilham Aliyev in his statement, which started with the news of President Ilham Aliyev’s reception of the TURKPA delegation. This attitude reminded me of national traitors such as Aliheydar Garayev, Chingiz Yildirim, Ibrahim Abilov, Gara Bey Garabayov, Samad Agamalioglu, who served the occupying forces on the eve of the occupation of Azerbaijan in 1920 and preached surrender and obedience to Bolshevik Russia. This fake historian, who does not hide his European admiration in every sentence, tries to overshadow Azerbaijan’s cooperation with the Turkic states in his comments. Jamil Hasanli, who dedicated a monograph to the May 1st holiday in 1988 at the height of the freedom movement, mockingly commented on the speech of Ilham Aliyev, who liberated Karabakh from occupation, which the world could not solve and which was the most sacred dream of 50 million Azerbaijanis. Moreover, it shows the courage to criticize the state policy conducted by the President of Azerbaijan in the direction of the formation of the Turkish unity. It is understood that the President’s skeptic views about our country’s membership in the European Union worried Jamil Hasanli. The comment of Jamil Hasanli, who cannot understand the simplest truths in front of his eyes, raises many questions.
What does Jamil Hasanli, who bears the title of “doctor of historical sciences”, offer to the people today, after liberating our lands from occupation and successfully strengthening our independence? 100 years ago, our Bolsheviks of 1920 worked for Lenin, Mikoyan, and Chicherin, defending the interests of Russia against our independence at that time. Today, at a time when we have an independent and powerful state like never before in our history, who and which states’ interests are served by mangurts like Jamil Hasanli? Who are Jamil Hasanli’s “bosses”? Why does Jamil Hasanli worry about the idea of the Turks, who historically created invincible armies in vast areas of Eurasia, built numerous states and even empires, and created a culture that can be an example to the whole world with the greatness of their values, to reunite today and regain their historical glory?
I think history repeats itself. Today, it is a betrayal of our national interests to make the Azerbaijan state, which plays a very important unifying role in the formation of the great Turkish unity and is becoming the center of gravity of this sacred idea, a target of criticism. It seems that the Karayevs, Abilovs, and Yildirims of the 1920s are being replaced today by Jamal Hasanli, Ali Karimli and those who gather around them and want to hand over Azerbaijan to the European “monsters”. Jamil Hasanli, who clearly served the Soviet ideology and regime until the day when our independence was restored, admits that the Soviet Union is an invader and colonizer in today’s comment, but at the same time he tries to convince us that Europe and America are supposedly “better colonizers” than Russia. It proposes to share our blood-won independence with Europe.
In his comment, Jamil Hasanli tries to blackmail Great Leader Heydar Aliyev and President Ilham Aliyev with the phrase “…we are a part of Europe”. It seems that Jamil Hasanli calls himself a “professor” but has difficulty understanding the geo-political and geo-economic nature of the statements. Yes, indeed, we are a part of Europe, and in this statement of our heads of state, the answer to all the rhetorical questions raised by Jamil Hasanli was very successfully reflected. But Jamil Hasanli is not a scientist and a politician to the extent that you will see and hear him. I recommend Jamil Hasanli, who loves to overshadow the activities of Azerbaijan to achieve Turkish unity, to increase his education in order to understand the processes taking place. How old is he? You will need it when you grow up.
