White House avoids comment on Israel’s attack on Iran

The White House refused this Friday to comment on the alleged attack early Friday morning by Israel in Iran, which according to US media was carried out with missiles, although the operation has not been recognized by the Israeli Government.

White House spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre was repeatedly questioned in a press conference about the information and position that the United States has on that episode, but she refused to respond.

Hours earlier, in an appearance before the press after concluding the G7 Foreign Affairs meeting on the Italian island of Capri, the United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken simply said that his country “is not involved in offensive operations” against Iran and stated that it is working to contain the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East.

The Israeli authorities are also silent after the alleged air attack on the Iranian town of Isfahan, very close to Iran’s largest nuclear power plant, Natanz.

Meanwhile, Iran is experiencing a day of apparent normality after the attack, which caused no damage but generated initial alarm that led to the closure of four airports that later resumed operations.

This attack took place after the launch of 300 missiles and drones by Iran against Israel last weekend, in response to the Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus earlier this month.
