Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality conducted an inspection to determine whether the workplaces awarded the ‘White Flag’ met the criteria.
The Health Department Food Control teams give 3, 2 or 1 star ‘White Flag’ to businesses that meet the required conditions during the inspections they conduct throughout the city. Unlike the current inspections, the White Flag application, which includes consumers and ensures quality and food safety in workplaces, includes over 50 technical, hygienic and physical criteria. The teams first inform businesses throughout the province and then conduct inspections. In the inspections, a wide range of inspections are conducted, from lighting to cleanliness, from technical equipment to personnel uniforms, from service quality to environmental cleanliness.
The number is aimed to be increased to 300.
The metropolitan municipality teams hang signs stating “This workplace is regularly inspected by our Metropolitan Municipality Food Inspection teams. For a hygienic and healthy environment, you can choose workplaces with the White Flag.” on workplaces that are entitled to receive the White Flag.
More than 200 businesses in the city have been awarded the White Flag so far, and the aim is to increase this number to 300.
“White Flag is a quality certificate”
Health Affairs Department Head Vahap Saçaklı, who participated in the White Flag inspections, stated that they routinely inspect businesses that have been awarded the White Flag. Saçaklı, who stated that they determine the criteria in the White Flag application by taking the Turkish Food Codex as a reference, stated that the white flags of businesses that will see a decline in their technical, hygienic and physical conditions in the inspections they conduct continuously will be withdrawn. Saçaklı said, “The White Flag project is a quality certificate prepared for businesses operating in the food sector in our province. Having a White Flag by any business shows that the business meets the standards in technical, hygienic and physical terms; and is at a high level in terms of production and quality. Currently, more than 200 businesses in Diyarbakır have the White Flag. We routinely inspect businesses that deserve to receive the White Flag every 6 months after the inspections we conduct. In these repeated inspections, we give time to businesses with deficiencies and ask them to complete their deficiencies.” – DIYARBAKIR
