Which is the favorite market of citizens for Eid shopping in Faisalabad?

Whatever the festival, women start their preparations several days in advance and try to do the best shopping for the least amount of money.

Two centers of the city are most popular for women’s shopping in Faisalabad.

One of them is Anarkali Bazaar, which consists of a straight market and side markets in the area between Bhawana Bazaar and Regal Road adjacent to the historic Clock Tower.

Another hub is Madina Market on Satyana Road Jhal which is known as No. 9 Street.

Mohammad Akram, a shopkeeper who has been running a bangle stall in Anarkali Bazaar for the past six decades, told Independent Urdu that when he started the business, “the monthly rent was Rs 50 to Rs 70.”

According to Akram: ‘At that time, furnaces were installed somewhere, buffaloes were tied somewhere. Someone had built a shop and someone had a house. Gradually the era changed, shops were built, the value increased. Today it is a situation where there is no place to set foot here and everyone wants me to set up a shop in Anarkali.’

He said that the market provides ‘good and durable’ items, which is why women try to ‘shop at Anarkali Bazaar.’

He said that ‘In the past, all Eid shopping was done easily even with five thousand rupees, but now only two or three things can be bought for this amount of money.’

He wants to buy something worth five hundred or five thousand or ten thousand. Whoever wants to take it gets it.’

Zulnoor, who was busy in Eid shopping, said that she had come to the market with a budget of seven thousand rupees for Eid shopping.

They said that they have just bought two sets of bangles for two thousand rupees and now they are worried about how they will buy shoes and clothes for five thousand rupees.

“There was a time when bangles used to cost two, three hundred rupees and Eid shopping was complete with bangles because bangles are the most important, but now they are saying that for one thousand rupees, two thousand rupees. have bangles.’

Hina, a resident of Eden Valley, said that she had come with a budget of Rs 15,000, but ‘Rs 10,000 has already been spent on buying bangles, shoes and a suit.’

While the women who came for Eid shopping were worried due to inflation, the shopkeepers were also worried that despite it being the Eid season, most of the customers ask the prices and go back without purchasing.
