By fulfilling Azerbaijan’s unequivocal condition, will Yerevan secure the point where Baku will stop its ambitions, or so to speak, the iron legitimacy of Yerevan’s positions will be formed, as Nikol Pashinyan talks about, referring to the problem of the so-called Azerbaijani villages. This issue has been discussed in Armenia, or rather, it has been raised since the defeat of 2020. is raised because there is practically no discussion as such, with rare exceptions.
There is a voice, around which various domestic and foreign political conjunctures are served. Because there is no such thing as one of the main questions, what is the source of legitimacy in the modern world, what is legitimacy in modern international relations, what standards and definitions does it have? International right: Is it worth listing the examples of how international law was and is being violated for geopolitical gain, and not only today, during the actual world war, but even yesterday, years ago, even decades ago?
International law provides the “legitimacy” of power centers, but not the targets that come under the focus of those power centers. The only source of legitimacy currently is power. Although it is always like that. Perhaps power does not give birth to rights as much as to legitimacy, if we partially edit the well-known phrase. Therefore, the process of giving way to the power of Azerbaijan cannot be a path to legitimacy for Armenia, even more so, a path leading to the source of legitimacy.
The situation is extremely complicated, without words. And the problem is not at all in the field of heroism and betrayal, if we go beyond the scope of the political conjuncture. It must be accepted that there is no solution except by force. Therefore, the answer should be sought in the field where the following question is: is Armenia doing everything possible in terms of complex, systemic, institutional and psychological aspects to be ready for that solution?
