Where do the richest people in the world live

The richest people in the world live in the USA and China. In total, there are more than a thousand billionaires, Liter.kz reports.

According to the Henley Wealth Migration Report 2024, the largest number of millionaires, that is, people with a net worth of over one million dollars, are in the United States: almost 5.5 million people. The United States also leads in the number of both multimillionaires with a net worth of over $100 million (9.9 thousand people) and billionaires with a net worth of over one billion dollars (788 people).

China comes next, with 862.4 thousand millionaires, 2.4 thousand multimillionaires and 305 billionaires.

Germany is in third place in terms of the number of millionaires and multimillionaires: 806.1 thousand and 1.1 thousand people, respectively.

In terms of the number of billionaires, India is in third place: 120 people.

The biggest increase over the decade, from 2013 to 2023, among the 15 countries/territories with the most millionaires was in China, up 92%. India and the UAE followed, up 85% and 77% respectively.

It is worth noting that in three countries/territories from the top 15 – the UK, Japan and Hong Kong (PRC) – the number of millionaires decreased: by 8%, 6% and 4%, respectively.

In total, the report analyzed 26 countries, among which the smallest number of millionaires was noted in Mauritania: 5.1 thousand people. The largest increase in the indicator was noted in Vietnam: almost twofold, to 19.4 thousand people. Only in four of the 26 countries has the number of millionaires decreased over the past decade. In addition to the three already mentioned, the fourth is South Africa, where the indicator decreased by 20%, to 37.4 thousand people.
