Where can I exchange damaged money? – 2024-02-20 22:16:13

The Central Bank issued a statement on the continuation of the activity of “Cash Offices”. Unfortunately, since not all of our citizens have information about the activities of these offices, they face difficulties in replacing damaged and unfit for circulation national banknotes.

Publika.az reports that economist, MP Vugar Bayramov said this on his social network account.

According to him, in some cases, our citizens exchange their worthless banknotes with a lower value through private individuals:

“The fact that money has become useless does not create any obstacle for its full value exchange. It is possible to easily replace those coins with undamaged banknotes. It should be noted that our citizens can change their useless banknotes not only in Baku, but also in the cities of Nakhchivan, Yevlakh, Ganja, Bilasuvar, and Guba by applying to the territorial offices.

There is no charge for exchanging bad notes. According to the legislation, the nominal value of a banknote consisting of a whole part or successive parts belonging to the same paper banknote, with not less than 60 percent of its surface and at least one of the two serial numbers on it intact, is paid by the Central Bank without limitation.

On the other hand, the nominal value of a metal banknote that has kept the images and inscriptions on its entire surface in a volume that allows determining its denomination and has not undergone deformation is paid by the Central Bank. Therefore, if you have useless banknotes, do not exchange them for a lower value, you can replace them by receiving the full amount by contacting the mentioned offices.
