When will there be a non-binary albino superhero?

You saw this text in The newspaper about the series Echowhich debuted on Tuesday on the platforms of streaming Disney+ and Hulu? “She IS indigenous, deaf and has an amputated leg: the new Marvel superhero is banking on her atypical profile to relaunch a franchise that is losing momentum at Disney.”

It’s no longer enough that she’s a woman. She must be an indigenous woman.

It is no longer enough that she is an indigenous woman. Also she must be deaf.

But it is no longer enough that she is indigenous and deaf. She must also be indigenous, deaf and have one leg amputated.

Can you imagine how happy the huge community of deaf, leg amputee indigenous women were to learn that Marvel was naming a superhero for them? Finally a company that knows how to address this vast audience that has remained in the shadows for too long!

But I wonder: was her left leg or her right leg amputated? Because we don’t address the same clientele at all!

JUST A LITTLE EXTRA EFFORT

We applaud Marvel’s efforts, but frankly, why stop there?

Couldn’t they have made her albino, their superhero? They are albinophobic, that’s all? And why is it a typical size? Couldn’t she have been a dwarf? Well, I mean, baby?

And dyslexics, was Marvel thinking of dyslexics?

And all these people with orphan diseases, when will they have a superhero that looks like them? What do we tell people suffering from polymyalgia rheumatica or antiphospholipid antibody syndrome?

Why be inclusive if you’re only half inclusive? Why stop now when everything is going so well? We have to open the floodgates! Push the car!

I at least hope the new superhero isn’t binary. Otherwise I know some people who will be accused of being “heteronormative”. Non-binary, it seems to me that this is the minimum wage. Otherwise one might think that the superheroine, indigenous, deaf and with an amputated leg could also be queer, or intersexual, gender fluidagere, two-spiritual.

After all, let’s not forget, according to the creed of the 2024 awakening, “society increasingly recognizes that sexual diversity is not only composed of the male and female genders, but of a whole range of possibilities and variations as personal as they are infinite grouped under the great concept of gender identity.

And what pronoun should I use when talking about she/him/ille/iel/ul/al?

And when will we see an overweight drag queen superhero?

Intersectionality can be celebrated 100% or not at all.

THE ESSENTIAL

Ok, enough with the jokes. I understand that we need better representation of minorities on screen. But too much is like not enough. Political correctness taken to its peak is simply ridiculous.

Do we really think audiences choose their films and series based on how many “intersectional” boxes the hero ticks?

When will these companies and the organizations that finance them understand that the only criterion that matters to the general public is that the story is good? Let the characters be complex and interesting. That the actors are credible.

In short, tell us good stories! And what does it matter if the hero is one-legged or suffers from chronic dyspnea!
