MADRID, June 21. (Portaltic/EP) – WhatsApp has released an update for iOS devices that allows you to set the sending of multimedia files in high quality (HD) as the default, something that can be manipulated from the Settings section of the application.
Since last summer, the platform developed by Meta has allowed the sending of photographs and videos with higher resolution, while also maintaining the protection of the end-to-end encryption that it offers with its messaging service.
In this way, users can choose between sending with standard quality, which compresses images and videos to weigh less and, therefore, offer a lower resolution; or click on the HD button to send these files with that quality.
The company has recently worked on the possibility of choosing HD quality as the default from the Platform Configuration section, where a new section has been introduced that makes it easier to control the way in which this content is sent.
This is how the specialized portal WABetaInfo has been able to verify it in the latest version of WhatsApp for iOS 12.24.78, which introduces both standard quality – to send media faster and with a smaller size – and high quality, which guarantees preserve “important details” of these photographs and videos.
This portal has recalled, however, that the HD button does not allow multimedia files to be shared directly in their original quality, but for the latter they must be sent to other users as documents. This feature was introduced with the WhatsApp iOS 23.24.73 update last year.
This feature is already reaching some users through the latest iOS update, available in the App Store.
