Publika.az reports that endocrinologist Anna Krivosheyeva said this in an interview to “Ura.ru”. The doctor said that drinking lemon water in the morning will not save you from excess weight. However, it has potential benefits such as being low in calories.
“If you squeeze the juice of half a lemon into water, each glass of lemon water contains only 6 calories. Therefore, replacing high-calorie carbonated drinks and fruit juices with lemon water can lead to a decrease in total calorie intake and help you lose weight,” Krivosheeva explained.
Also, according to the doctor, some studies have shown that drinking low-calorie drinks with meals can reduce the total number of calories consumed. Another benefit of lemon water is that this drink helps maintain the body’s water balance. The expert added that the beneficial properties of the drink actually come from the water.
“The lemon trick can help people who don’t like the taste of plain water to drink more, but you can also add orange or lime to it. It’s a myth that lemon water should be drunk in the morning and at a certain temperature.
