What is happening in “Neftchi”? – Groupings, internal strife… – 2024-04-03 03:19:16

“Neftchi” is one of the most discussed teams in Azerbaijani football this season. Unlike their arch-rival “Karabakh”, there are no good words about the “whites and blacks”.

Against the backdrop of large financial opportunities, expensive transfers, highly paid coaches and a large budget, the team is in the 2nd-5th ranks. The only hope of the Baku people is the cup, and the opponent in the semi-finals is the main favorite of the tournament, “Karabakh”. Passing “Kohlen horses” does not mean anything yet. What “Neftchi” experienced in the final match with “Gabala” last season is a clear proof of this.

A deep crisis is happening in the camp of the “black and whites”, who celebrated their 87th anniversary the other day. Within the team, there have already been groups that pose a serious threat. The relations between captain Emin Mahmudov, Gara Garayev, Azer Aliyev and other local players and a number of legionnaires – Lukas Melano, Andre Shinyashiki, Ervin Koffi, Yuri Matias, Ivan Brkic are extremely bad. This directly affects the results of “Neftchi” on the field.

Another group tries to remain neutral on this issue. This is also shown by their performance during the games. Football players like Filip Ozobich, Kilan Lebon, Yegor Bogomolski are worried about the situation. They are in favor of doing their work on the field rather than staying between groups.

“Neftchi” management and head coach Miodrag Bojovic cannot intervene in what is happening. Conversations with football players remain meaningless. The point that complicates the club’s work in this matter is the boycott decision of the main fan group “Forza Neftchi”. Football players are more or less shunned by fans and their pressure.

“Forza Neftchi” is not going to return to the stand despite the insistence of the club management. Even the fact that they went to the game of the second team playing in the substitute league and supported the young players created a shock effect in the main team. “Forza Neftchi” plans to continue the boycott until the end. They are dissatisfied with both the team and the management.

It seems that the uncertainty in “Neftchi” will last until April. Because there is a possibility that Rovshan Najaf, the chairman of the Supervisory Board of the club, will become the president of AFFA. If this happens, the management of the club will change again. This is what the fans are hoping for.
