Publika.az reports that a well-known funskier shared about the game they played in Khankendi 49 years ago. He remembered what happened in the final match of the tournament between schoolchildren and the difficulties he faced.
“It was the fall of 1974. In Khankendi, in the stadium where the game was held the other day, the zone tournament of the republican schoolboys spartakiade was being held. The teams “Biz-Tovuz” and “Stepanakert” reached the finals. This game caused a great stir in the republic, including DQMV.
We were accompanied by sports luminaries of Tovuz, Razin Bayramov, Mohsum Jabbarovich and teacher Vilayat. A day before the game, “Stepanakert” representatives approached us and advised us not to go out into the city. So, the population is in a very aggressive mood, determined to win, so unpleasant events can happen. And we went for an evening walk without noticing anything, without paying attention to crooked looks and cheap replicas. We had a good rest before the game. The local public and management put a lot of pressure on the competition organizers. The judge from Baku was forced to appoint two sideline judges – one from “Mardakert” and the other from “Martuni”.
The stadium was full to the brim. We were very strong, we had no doubts about our victory. Although they brought a lot of “lipa”. The sideline referees worked only unilaterally. They sent a republican judge from Baku to supervise the game, with the surname Balayan.
The game started extremely tense and aggressive. They only played standing up. Among them, the famous criminal and murderer Vitaly Balasanyan was especially distinguished. The game was stopped several times by our coaches. It was reported that the team will leave the field. Mohsum teacher could not control his nerves, his noise was the same as the stadium. In one of the episodes, Ashiq son Jumshud (died) was hit very hard. At that time, teacher Mohsum stood up sternly and came to the organizers’ tribune, pointing his finger at Balayan: “е… ваше мать, ето футбол или гладиаторская битва?… куда же вы смотри, scumbags” and demanded that the game be stopped again.
The game stopped for a while, then at the insistence of Mr. Razin and Mr. Vilayat, Mr. Mohsun returned to his place, and the game continued.
