What did Loret de Mola say about Sheinbaum’s victory?

Carlos Loret de Mola, one of the most critical characters of López Obrador’s six-year term, called not to fall into denial about the triumph of Claudia Sheinbaum.

“A victory like this is only achieved if you vote for brown, poor, rich, middle class, young adults, old people with a degree, without having finished the primary of the South of the North Center.”

“Today I see photographs of results sheets pasted outside the polling stations that supposedly do not coincide with the PREP. Records that have a mistake. It is the same thing I saw in 2006 when López Obrador claimed electoral fraud, and at that time there was no lost by 30%, had lost by 0.5%”.

The journalist did not deny that there are irregularities and that they must be reviewed. Just as attention must be paid to social programs so that they are a reason to coerce the vote, however, he insisted: “All this does not explain the size of the victory or the size of the defeat. It is a blow of reality. “And to understand what happened on June 2 in Mexico, it will take days of analysis, of reflection, but not of manipulation of reality.”

He said he was convinced that people know what the reality of the country is like, however the majority agree with the president’s rhetoric.

“People know that corruption continues, but they do think that Peña stole more. People know that the country has not been pacified, but they agree with the President that Calderón was the one who got us into this fight.”

He did not deny that there are risks

“Sweeping a presidential election and winning a qualified majority in Congress does not automatically imply a democratic setback. A lot of governments in the world have arrived like this and there has been no problem. But also a lot of governments in the world have arrived like this and have become dictatorships.”
