Not only in Sher Bangla of Mirpur, but also in the galleries of Sylhet and Chittagong, many satires and oblique talks are often heard about Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal these days.
If the cricketers perform well on the field, they are praised and criticized if they play poorly, a familiar scene in the playground. This custom is common in all countries of the world. But it is doubtful whether the best and most successful stars of the country can be found in the whole world saying ‘fake-fake’.
But in this year’s BPL, that ‘fake-fake’ slogan has been heard more. Even before the second qualifier match on Wednesday, a section of the audience came to Sher Bangla carrying placards with the words ‘Saqib Bhua-Bhua’. Although they were not allowed to enter with that placard.
Still, there were many slogans of ‘Saqib Bhua’ in their mouths. Such sarcasm and duplicity about the best stars of the country is very painful to see and hear.
No initiative has been taken yet to stop these. However, in response to a question after the match between Rangpur Riders and Fortune Barisal on Wednesday night, Shakib-Tamim’s long-time partner Mushfiqur Rahim commented that calling such ‘fake-fake’ is unethical.
Mushfiq said in the press conference, ‘Such sarcasm should be avoided. These are immoral acts.’
Calling Shakib and Tamim as the two best and most successful cricket stars of the country, Mushfiq said, ‘If Shakib and Tamim are fake, then what are we?’
