What are the axes to promote education in Bogotá?

1. Comprehensive early childhood care:

The mayor’s office proposes the implementation of an early childhood care policy, which will be carried out through a collaboration between the District Secretariat of Social Integration and the District Secretariat of Education.

The objective of this is to develop a quality assurance system that improves comprehensive care, using appropriate pedagogical tools and coordinating various services with other sectors such as art, culture, health, sports, among others.

“One of our priorities as a city will be to implement the Comprehensive Care Policy for the Early Childhood that enables development of our girls and boys, allowing them to play, explore, discover and learn from their environment,” said Isabel Segovia, Secretary of Education.

2. Closing the gaps:

The main bets in this axis are the development and strengthening of basic learning, particularly in mathematics and languages, with the goal of increasing from 57% to 70% of students at levels three or four in mathematics on the Saber 11 tests.

It also seeks to strengthen the learning of English, with the objective of increasing the number of students at levels B1 or higher in the Saber 11 tests by 35%.

In addition, the time will be extended school through the expansion of single-day enrollment and the offer of complementary days.

Finally, educational infrastructure will continue to be improved through the construction of new schools and the continuous improvement of existing facilities to support the expansion of the single day.

3. Life project:

This axis will focus on increasing access to post-secondary education through scholarships, with an expanded and quality offer that is linked to local job opportunities.

Also, the district will work on programs for young people with the potential for validation of studies and short work education courses, supported by the Social Integration and the National Government to guarantee its permanence.
