The whole of West Bengal is in intense and unbearable heat. From north to south, from east to west, heat discomfort is felt everywhere. The brightness of the sun is far from decreasing, it is increasing by leaps and bounds every day. As the day increases, the color of the sun increases.

The Meteorological Department has also said that there is no chance of this heat decreasing so far. Several districts of West Bengal may experience heat wave till Monday (April 22). Orange alert of severe heat wave has been issued in eight districts. Even, the Alipore Zoo authorities have provided ORS water (water mixed with salt and sugar) to keep the animals healthy.

The mercury in western districts like Medinipur may touch 44 degrees Celsius. Heat will prevail in Dinajpur, Maldah, Purulia, Bankura, Jhargram, Medinipur, Murshidabad, Birbhum, Nadia and several areas of South 24 Parganas and North 24 Parganas districts.

Director of Meteorological Department Somnath Dutta said that this bone-burning fire will continue for another two to three days. On Saturday and Sunday (April 21), the temperature of South Bengal, including Kolkata, may increase by 2 to 3 degrees.

According to the Meteorological Department, Darjeeling, Duars, Kochbehar Kalimpong, Alipurduar, Jalpaiguri are likely to experience light or thundershowers in the next 24 hours.

Somnath Bose, a resident of Kolkata, said that a CRPF jawan died in the heat while coming to work in the election. I don’t know how much this heat will increase. Even if I drink a lot of water in hot weather, I am getting sick.

Tandra Pal, a resident of Bhatpara in North 24 Parganas, said that the summer is suffering. Yesterday a familiar person fell head over heels in front of me. In such a situation, I do not eat spicy food at all. I am eating very light food and drinking more water.

Day laborer Rajesh Chowdhury said, no matter how careful I am, it is very difficult to work outside in this intense rain. There are little boys and girls at home. They are not able to sleep properly at night in this heat. I am drinking more salt and sugar water to stay healthy.

According to experts, all work should be completed by 10 am during this scorching heat. If there is no special work, it is better not to leave the house. Even if you go out for any urgent work, you should wear full-sleeved clothes, umbrellas, and dark glasses. Head-face-nose should be covered with cotton cloth and water mixed with salt and sugar must be kept with it.

They also say that you can’t walk barefoot in summer. Fruits cut and sold in the market cannot be eaten. But at home watermelon, papaya – such fruits should be eaten more. Cold water should be splashed repeatedly in the eyes. If you go out on the street, wet a handkerchief in cold water and wipe your face, neck and neck.
