Welcome your guests with Masala Vada

Life Style: Masala vada is a popular snack made by frying coarsely ground chana dal with spices, chilli, onion and coriander leaves. Masala Vada is eaten with chutney and goes perfect with tea and coffee. Making masala vada recipe is easier than we think and the effort spent is worth it. Masala Vada is an all-time favorite breakfast because of its taste! Be careful – it can make you addicted too! Masala Vada is called Dal Vada in English, Paruppu Vada in Tamil and Parippu Vada in Malayalam.
Material
1/2 cup chana dal
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
2 tbsp coriander leaves
salt to taste
a pinch of asafoetida
oil for deep frying
grind together
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
4 large cloves of garlic
4 pieces small red chilli
1/2 inch ginger
Method
– Take gram dal in a bowl.
– Wash chana dal and soak it for 2 to 3 hours. Cover and keep aside. Then drain the water completely and keep it aside.
– Add ginger, garlic, red chilli and fennel in a mixer jar.
Grind the ingredients together and make a thick paste as shown below.
Then add half chana dal in it.
– Grind the mixture coarsely, make sure it is thick, do not add water. A little dal should remain whole here and there, which gives a crunchy texture.
Then take out the mixture in a bowl. Grind the remaining chana dal coarsely. First of all mix it well.
Then add onion, green coriander, salt and asafoetida. mix well.
– Take a small portion and shape it into a ball.
– Flatten it a little between your palms. Vada shaped is ready.
– Keep them in a plate ready for deep frying.
– Heat oil in a pan, add a pinch of oil and check whether the oil is ready or not, if the oil comes up immediately then the oil is ready. Add a few vadi in batches.
– Deep fry them by turning them from both the sides till they become golden brown.
– Filter it and serve Garam Masala Vada.
