The warning is in effect from tonight until 03:00 on Sunday. In South Moravia, in the Zlín region and in parts of the Vysočina and Olomouc regions, there is an even high level of danger warning. According to meteorologists, wind gusts of up to 85 km/h can occur in Moravia and Silesia, in torrential rains, up to 50 millimeters of water can occasionally rain there in an hour. In the Czech Republic, the strongest wind gusts should be about 65 km/h.
Torrential rains can flood small streams and dry riverbeds, there is a risk of flooding underpasses, underpasses or basements, roads can be washed away. “If the watershed is saturated with previous rainfall, the occurrence of a flash flood is likely in orographically broken terrain,” meteorologists said. Wind can uproot trees and cause extensive property damage, power outages and traffic problems.
ČHMÚ recommends securing windows, doors, greenhouses or loose objects. When driving a vehicle in a storm, people should reduce speed and drive very carefully. They should not enter and enter flowing water and flooded areas.
