His warning against the rare occurrence of strong thunderstorms in the western half of the Czech Republic is valid from 12:00 to 20:00. “They will be accompanied by short-term precipitation totals of around 30 mm and smaller hailstones of up to two centimeters, which can temporarily form a layer,” meteorologists said.
Torrential rain in thunderstorms can flood tunnels, underpasses and basements, damage can be caused by wind-broken tree branches. “Even smaller hail and lightning can pose a danger. It is necessary to take care of safety, especially with regard to the danger of being struck by lightning and being injured by falling objects, especially branches. Therefore, when driving a vehicle in a storm, reduce your speed and drive very carefully.” meteorologists said.
According to them, storms will also occur in the following days, if necessary, they will keep you updated. “There shouldn’t be that much available energy today and it will run out fairly quickly. So the storms should weaken quickly in the evening and evening.” stated the CHMÚ.
According to meteorologists, the weather in the Czech Republic will be affected from today by a cold front from the west, which will slowly advance to the east. Due to this, there will be significant temperature differences in the Czech territory on Tuesday. While in the Czech Republic it will not even be 20 degrees in the afternoon and it will be more or less cloudy, in Moravia and Silesia the temperatures will still be above the summer 25 degrees. According to meteorologists, the storms that occur will have a similar character as in the past few days.
It can cool down to 15 degrees Celsius in the west of the Czech Republic this week after the previous hot days. The temperature will also drop slightly in the eastern half of the country and it will be cloudy with showers and thunderstorms in places. This follows from the weekly forecast of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ). Torrential rain and hail may occur in places, the Institute staff said on the X network.
In the past week, according to the institute, temperatures were slightly above the long-term average for this period. In the next four weeks – from today until June 23 – temperatures will correspond to the usual values. The CHMÚ stated this in the monthly weather forecast today. “The first week of the season will be average, with higher temperatures at the beginning of the week,” meteorologists said. “The rest of the week is also likely to stick to normal with lows around 12 degrees Celsius and highs around 23 degrees Celsius,” they added. Also, the volume of precipitation will correspond to the long-term average for this part of the year.
