„The weather forecasts agree that we no longer need to worry about ground frosts, both the temperatures here at 5 cm above the ground and the frosts at 2 m above the ground, as a rule, temperatures should not fall below 5 °C in the morning lows. On the other hand, the nearest days at the beginning of May will bring the highest temperatures, then in the second decade of May, the temperatures will most often reach 20 degrees in the afternoon maximumsbut if we’re worried about ice men, it looks like we’re over them now,Dagmar Honsová stated in the Epicenter with the fact that the weather for witches should also be good.
Beware of making fires
The conditions for outdoor celebrations and events should be almost ideal. Night temperatures should drop below ten degrees and we won’t even need raincoats and umbrellas. The only thing that can trouble us is the wind.
„In most of the territory of the Czech Republic, fresh wind will blow in gusts of 55 km/h, in the vicinity of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands up to 70 km/h. So it is the worst possible weather for making fires and especially for their spread and the danger of fires in nature, which can even be, so the firefighters are already sounding the alarm at the moment, so that we rather avoid starting fires in nature.”
In the Central Bohemia region and also in Prague, the ban on making fires has been in effect since Tuesday afternoon. Fires must not be made in gardens close to the forest or in gardens with continuous plant growth allowing further spread of the fire. The ban is currently valid until Wednesday midnight, but may be extended. Violation of obligations is punishable by a fine.
Later in the afternoon, Prague also joined the ban on bonfires. The ban will also limit the traditional burning of witches in the capital, which falls on a Tuesday this year. However, organizers of large reported events with ensured fire safety and under the supervision of firefighters can use the exception in the city ordinance and light bonfires to a limited extent.
Storm season is starting
This week, the first summer storms will also have their say. According to the meteorologist, the numerical models agree that the weather in our country will be influenced by the area of low air pressure associated with frontal systems, and that far more storms and precipitation from Thursday to Sunday will be in the southern half of our territory.
“So you can say, I’m very much looking forward to this week, because this year’s storm season starts on Friday, the real summer one, because even this winter we encountered some local storms many times, they were even of a supercell character during the beginning of April, which were actually like those summer storms precisely as a result of that weather,Honsová concluded.
