The last days of the old year will be exceptionally hot and humid across Poland. There will be rain, snow and gusty winds. “There is no sign of a return to true winter in the coming days,” IMWM meteorologists announce.
According to meteorologists from the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management (IMGW), the turn between December and January will be very surprising. In Lower Silesia thermometers can indicate up to 10 degrees Celsius, but in the center of the country thunderstorms and strong wind gusts of up to 75 km/h are possible. All thanks to the low coast, which dominates Europe.

According to meteorologists, the sky will be cloudy across Poland on December 30th. There will also be light rain, while in the north of the country and in the mountains it will rain and snow. In the north the temperature will be a maximum of 4 degrees Celsius, in the center 7 degrees Celsius and in the south-west even 9 degrees Celsius.
On the night between Saturday and Sunday (31 December) there will be more showers across Poland. – Initially, especially in the mountains and in the north of the country, intermittent rain and sleet will be possible. In the morning, however, especially in the south, fog is possible, which limits visibility to around 300 metres, and there it could be slippery on the roads and pavements – warned Michał Kowalczuk from the Central Forecasting Office of the Institute of Meteorology and Management of waters, quoted by Wirtualna Polska. The heaviest precipitation and sleet is also expected to occur on New Year’s Eve. The temperature during the day can even exceed 10 degrees Celsius.

On the first day of the new year there will still be a lot of cloud cover. According to meteorologists, light rain will occur in the Carpathian region, where thermometers will indicate around 3 degrees Celsius, while in mountainous areas the wind will be weak and moderate. The weather will be similar on January 2nd.
“Quite clear Tuesday, possible light rain in the west. Maximum temperatures from 2 degrees C to 7 degrees C. Weak and moderate wind, with gusts up to 55 km/h over the sea, south-east” – note the IMWM meteorologists.
There will also be heavy cloud cover on January 3rd and snowfall is expected in the mountains. The temperature in the country will vary between 4 degrees C and 9 degrees C. The wind will be quite strong, with gusts of up to 60 km/h, from the west and south-west. There will be rain and sleet on Thursday (January 4), but only snow in the mountains. We can expect negative temperatures only at the end of next week.
