VElmi strong storms with torrential rain, hail and gusty winds mainly hit the eastern half of the country today. In the afternoon and evening, they arrived in the eastern part of Bohemia and the west of Moravia and Silesia, until the night there is a threat of dangerous meteorological phenomena in the east of Moravia and Silesia.
In the South Moravian region, the firemen registered exits connected with the storm after 3:00 p.m. “The overwhelming majority are fallen trees or branches, in the Brno Region, especially near Tišnov, and also in the Blanen Region,” stated Mikoška. 40 events are associated with tree removal, another six are water pumping, and the rest are removal of dangerous conditions. Among them is the removal or securing of the sheet metal on the roof of the school gymnasium in the Tišnov area.

Problems in the Hradec Králové region

„It started about an hour and a half ago. Thunderstorms pass over the entire region, currently over Přerovská and Prostějovská,” said a spokesperson at 7:00 p.m0. “In Tovačov we deal with a loose roof, the same in Prostějov,” the spokesman said. There is no information yet that the villages in the Přerovsk region, which were hit by flash floods on Thursday evening, would be significantly affected. Damage is also reported from Pardubice. “From 3 p.m. we register 70 technical assistances. These are mainly water pumping and fallen trees. In Ústí nad Orlicí, a tree fell on two cars.”
Trains stopped in Vysočina
Firefighters had around a hundred trips due to storms in the Vysočina this afternoon, most often clearing fallen trees in the Třebíč region. In Velká Bíteš in the Žďár region, they repaired the damaged roof of a panel house. They listed it on the website. Due to a tree uprooted on the track, trains between Náměšť nad Oslavou and Studenec stations are not running from 4:00 p.m. Czech Railways put buses there. On this line between Třebíčí and Brno, train traffic should be resumed around 21:00 according to the tracks.

After 19:00 they removed trees, for example, in Jiratice, Radotice, Naloučany, Jemnice and Čikov in the Třebíč region or in the village of Křoví in the Žďár region.

The meteorologist’s current warning for very strong thunderstorms there will not expire until one hour after midnight. In areas affected by heavy rainfall, the levels of smaller rivers in particular can rise rapidly. There is a risk of local flooding.
“During the day in the eastern half of Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia, storms may experience wind gusts of around 90 km/h, larger hail and torrential rainfall with totals of around 50 mm, occasionally even higher,” warns an expert on the website of the Czech Hydrometeorological Office.
During Sunday afternoon, thunderstorms began to appear in the vicinity of Pardubice, Hradec and to the east of Český Budějovice. “There are also more intense storms with the possibility of hail. Development will continue further east during the afternoon as the convergence line moves in.” informs the ČHMÚ on the X social network.
“Watch out, some storms are and will be very strong,” the expert delivers directly from the field, where a very strong wind can be heard in the background. It also shows a heavily overcast sky.

Firefighters had over 60 trips due to storms in Vysočina this afternoon, they most often cleared fallen trees from the roads in the Třebíč region. Trains between Náměšť nad Oslavou and Studenec stations are not running due to a tree that has fallen onto the track. České dráhy deployed buses there, they reported on their website. It is a line between Jihlava and Brno. Traffic should be restored there around 18:00.
Due to storms with rain, firefighters intervened from 15:00 except in Třebíčsk most often in Žďársk. Trees were removed, for example, in Budišov, Tasov, Dolní Rožínek, Smrk, Cidlina and Dolní Vilémovice.
“We register 90 events. The most frequently fallen trees. The most work is in Brno, Blanen and Vyškov. In Vyškovsk, it is mainly about pumping water, and that several times in Ivanovice na Hané. Events currently without injuries,” says the South Moravian Region firefighters on the X social network.

Nminimum minimums were usually between 23 and 18 degrees Celsius, but for example in Hejnice and Frýdlant in the Liberec Region, temperatures did not drop below 25 degrees, announced the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute (ČHMÚ) on Facebook in the morning. A tropical night, when the thermometer showed 20 degrees or more, was recorded by 150 of the 260 stations in the country.
It was exceptionally warm at night even on the ridges of the mountains – for example, at Labská bouda or Klínovec, the minimum temperature reached 17 degrees Celsius. The coldest was at night in Šumava, the Hliniště station measured 13.2 degrees, the ČHMÚ reported. The hot weather will end the storms today, which may be very strong in some places.
Storms are expected to continue on Monday, especially in Moravia and Silesia. However, temperatures are expected to drop to a maximum of 24 °C, around 18 °C in the west. Noticeable cooling should last until the end of the week.
