We are now at a time when… – 2024-02-13 20:37:11

Kylian Mbappe, the striker of PSG and the French national team, made an interesting statement.

Publika.az reports that he said that the fans now expect a lot from the players:

“We live in a time of excessive consumption, we are in a time when there are many matches, people expect a lot from the players. I try to show that the pressure does not affect me negatively. I would even say that I need it to play football. This allows you to maintain the skills required to perform at the highest level.”

Mbappe compared football to an MBA. He spoke about the increase in the number of matches held during the season, as in the competition held on the other side of the ocean:

“We are moving towards playing 70 games per season, the MBA model. Personally, I don’t mind playing a lot, but we won’t be able to play well every time and give the audience the expected performance.

In MBA, players don’t play every game. Coaches deal with load management. But if I decide to say, “I’m tired today, I won’t play on Saturday,” it won’t work. An audience that pays for a ticket and maybe only sees you once a season wants to witness a performance worthy of the name, and that’s okay.

However, this is a different management method that football is exposed to as the number of matches increases. “I don’t want to teach, but we have to think together to achieve the best result and unite players, spectators and officials.”
